The international spotlight this weekend was firmly on the Paris Half Marathon (Semi de Paris), where the competition was fierce. Known for attracting a deep field of East African elites, the race lived up to its reputation as one of the fastest and most prestigious half marathons in Europe.

Our very own South African Half Marathon Champion, Thabang Mosiako, proved he belongs among the world's best. In a thrilling sprint finish, Mosiako secured 3rd place with a world-class time of 1:00:44. He was right in the mix until the very end, finishing just behind a dominant Kenyan duo. The race was won by Kenya's Kennedy Kimutai, who crossed the line in 1:00:11, followed closely by countryman Timothy Misoi in 1:00:39.

Back on home soil at the Edenvale Marathon, the club’s women led the charge with gritty performances across multiple distances. In the grueling 42.2km marathon, Ilse Marais claimed 3rd place with a solid time of 03:12:29, while in the 10-mile event, Shanice Peens showcased her speed to finish 2nd overall in 01:06:22.

The challenging Surrender Hill Marathon events saw our men’s team dominate the podiums. In the 21.1km half marathon, Thato Calvin Buthelezi earned a hard-fought 3rd place in 01:21:31. The 10km race was a green sweep at the front, as Bongani Hlongwane took the top spot in 00:34:41, followed by Sibusiso Ndhlela who rounded out the podium in 3rd with a time of 00:37:49.

In Cape Town, the women’s squad showed remarkable consistency at the Constantia Village 15km, placing three athletes inside the top ten. Zintle Xiniwe led the group with an impressive 2nd place finish in 00:58:06, supported by Elme Middlemost in 4th (00:59:40) and Maretha Smit in 8th (01:03:21).

The Bobbies 3-in-1 proved to be another successful hunting ground for the club. Skye Barker secured a commanding victory in the women’s 21.1km with a time of 01:33:38. In the 10km events, Charles Soza claimed 1st place for the men in 00:34:23, while the women’s race saw Dalene Sonnekus finish 3rd (00:47:45) and Kai Hattingh follow closely in 4th (00:49:09).

Finally, our athletes shone at the Achilles Athletics Club Fundraiser during the Rolf Kordes Endurance Challenge. Tracy Campbell was the star of the 25km event, finishing as the 1st Woman overall and 1st in the 40-49 category in 1:51:42. In the 10km run, Ntombesintu Mfunzi mirrored that success, also taking 1st Woman overall and 1st in the 40-49 category with a finish of 0:45:36.

Congratulations to all our runners for another weekend of #GreenDreamTeam excellence!
