I joined the Nedbank Running Club in October 2023 after not running for the whole of 2023. I called Nick and expected him to be hesitant to allow me in the club, much less furnish me with running shoes and supplements. I could not have been more wrong, as Nick enthusiastically helped me to join and supported me with shoes and supplements. I then started running again and lost more than 20kg en route to finishing third at the Two Oceans Half Marathon in 2024. I also managed to break 29 minutes in the 10km in the same year. I quickly fell in love with road running and decided to set my sights on Comrades 2025. This did not come without its challenges, as I tore my ankle ligaments during a half marathon in February 2025. I took 6 weeks off running and managed to scrape together enough fitness to finish 12th in my debut Comrades in a time of 5h41m -- one of the best debut performances by a South African in recent years. Nedbank has supported me throughout this journey so far, and I could not have asked for a better club to be a part of. During a time where I was unsure about my running career, Nedbank provided stability and confidence. I am extremely excited to build toward Comrades 2026 and give back to the club I am very fond of.
