Mike Fokoroni | Two Oceans 56km Winner
Joined the club in 2014 through Nick Besters motivation and inspiration, my dream come to reality. Nick Bester the 9 times comrade gold medallist became my manager, not only me but many of elite runners. YES, he gave me hope and i started dreaming victory to big races.
Where there is hope there is good future. In 2015 I tested Soweto marathon for the second time since 2006 where i came 8th position after hard fighting and i quitted that race. Through Nick Motivation i ran and came 2nd position with R120.000, that was my first big price money i got. I came from poor family but we are no longer poor as i speak to my family because this money covers a lot pending gapes in my family matters.
Now the road for two oceans and comrades were open, funds and all the necessity for the preparation was set. I started to receive big moral support and good supplements from
#Biogen #Futurelife #Nike sports wear
By that time #thirsty was not there. My training went very well and i was feeling extra fit but winning a race like two oceans was not on my dream even one day. It was on Easter day 2016 April when i lined for the two oceans 56km race in cape town. If its your day and God says YES nobody can say NO. I won another big money of R250.000 plus more incentives. That race bring joy, and more life changes to my wife and kids. I completed building my house and started new business in buying and selling motor spare part
That same year i ran comrades marathon 87,6km after failed to make it in 2012 and 2013 was position 8th but 2016 i came on very amazing 4th position. I channelled that money to boost my business in which i became a respected man even today.
Nick didn`t stop there, he advised to form a club in Zimbabwe which is now today Nedbank Running Club Zimbabwe. The club started with only 8 athletes and i lead the club supported by Nick Bester. I then choose 4 athletes to work with me as club management team
Rutendo Nyahora as Secretary
Monica Kativhu as treasurer
Marko Mambo as coach
Patson Mhinda as club advisor
The club was growing every time every year till the number of athletes were over 50 and became tough to manage training to all of them.
In 2023 Nedbank Zimbabwe chipped in and support the team. They started giving elites athletes monthly incentives and that boosted the club to higher level. In 2023 two of our athletes Isaac Mpofu and Moses Tarakinyu qualified for the world half marathon and full marathon which also opened doors for one of our athlete Isaac Mpofu for 2024 Olympic. Nedbank Zimbabwe offered financial support to Isaac for the Olympics preparation, first time in history to receive such amount to our athlete in our club.
Today Nedbank Running Club Zimbabwe is one of the best clubs in Zimbabwe.
