GARSFONTEIN ICE BREAKER 21KM/10KM - 4 JULY 2026

The cold certainly lived up to the race's name, with frozen Nedbank flags greeting athletes early on race morning. Despite the freezing temperatures, our athletes delivered outstanding performances. Ingrid Koster produced a superb run with a double podium result to finish 3rd Overall Lady while also claiming the 1st Master Lady title in the 21km event in a time of 01:37:25. In the 10km Albert Kangor finished 3rd Overall Male and took victory in the Veteran category in a time of 33:05 and Dalene Sonnekus took victory in the Grandmaster (60-69) category in a time of 47:43.

 

NRC GAUTENG

GALLOPERS 15KM/5KM ROAD RACE - 5 JULY 2026

Another successful outing for our Green Team. Albert Kangor claimed victory in the M40-49 category over 15km in a time of 50:02 while our young star Kai Hattingh produced a brilliant performance by winning the Gallopers 5km race in 22:12.

 

NRC GEORGE

KNYSNA FOREST MARATHON - 4 JULY 2026

The Knysna Forest Marathon produced some exceptional performances from our athletes.

Selwyn Matthews claimed victory in the 42.2km marathon with a dominant performance of 02:37:17. Mila Pasiya from Nedbank Running Club Eastern Cape placed 4th Open Male and 1st in the Veteran category (40-49) in a time of 02:51:15 while Lindile Tokota placed 1st in the Master category (50-59) in a time of 03:03:53.

In the 21.1km event, Lloyd Bosman stormed to victory in an impressive winning time of 01:06:10. Bruce Maboza secured 2nd place overall in 01:08:52, while Francois Maquassa finished an excellent 5th overall in a time of 01:12:25. Nedbank Running Club SWD had an impressive 5 of their athletes in the top 10 male finishers with Wayne April in 6th position and Akeen Wilson in 8th position. Nicola-Jayne Kirkby claimed victory in the Veteran Ladies category in a time of 1:41:09 and Rolene Loock in 2nd position for the women 40-49 in a time of 01:42:50 while Annatjie Botes added another outstanding performance by winning the Grandmaster (60-69) category in a time of 01:43:15. Danika Bukes also impressed with a 3rd place finish in the Junior category.

 

HOUTKAPPER TRAIL RUN 15KM - 5 JULY 2026

Francois Maquassa secured an impressive 2nd place at the Houtkapper Trail Run over 15km the day after racing Knysna Forest 21km.

 

NRC EASTERN CAPE | MAKRO 10KM - 4 JULY 2026

Kelly van Vliet continued the winning form by taking victory at the Makro 10km in a time of 38:19, and even went home with a brand-new fridge after her outstanding performance. Refeloe Solomons finished in 2nd position and 1st Veteran in a time of 39:12

 

NRC CAPE TOWN WPA 

EERSTERIVIER 15KM - 4 JULY 2026

Our Western Cape athletes continued to shine across multiple events.

At the Eersterivier 15km, Sarah Silber claimed 3rd place in the Open Women's race in a time of 1:00:54, while Charmaine Cupido finished 2nd in the W70-79 category.

 

RUN THE VINES 17KM TRAIL RUN - 4 JULY 2026

At the Run the Vines Trail Run at Rheebokskloof, Elmé Middlemost produced an excellent performance to finish as 2nd Overall Female in a time of 1:45:53.

 

NRC EAST LONDON | ELIDZ OLD MUTUAL RUN THE ZONE 10KM

Our junior athletes delivered fantastic performances at the ELIDZ – Old Mutual Run the Zone 10km. Mbasa Nyathani finished 2nd in a time of 36:55, while Luthando Ntyinkana claimed 3rd place in 37:35.

 

NRC KWAZULA NATAL | SA MEN RUN 10KM

Benjamin Nyongesa produced another quality performance by finishing 4th overall at the SA Men Run 10km in a time of 29:30 against a highly competitive field.

 

NRC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Our WPA Development Squad continued building towards future success with a quality long run under the guidance of Coach Ashley Smith. Adding to the exciting weekend, two of our development athletes travelled to Johannesburg to attend a training camp at Zoo Lake alongside Hendrick Ramaala and Maxime Chaumeton. Opportunities like these provide invaluable experience and contribute greatly to the development of our future stars.

 

CLOSING

Week after week, our athletes continue to demonstrate the spirit, determination and excellence that make Nedbank Running Club one of South Africa's leading running clubs. Whether standing on the podium, achieving a personal best, completing a first marathon or developing through our youth programme, every achievement contributes to the continued success of our club.
