The Green Team demonstrated exceptional range and consistency
At the Phakamile Mabija Human Rights Half Marathon, the Nedbank men’s team controlled the pace in the 21km event. Thabang Mosiako took the victory in 01:04:37, followed by Joel Mmone in 2nd place with a time of 01:06:00. The club also saw Chabeli Nyedimane finish 6th (01:11:00), Xolisa Tyali 7th (01:11:17), and Paballo Mmutle 8th (01:14:25). In the women’s 21km, Anna Moeketsi secured 1st place in 01:30:22, while Boipelo Malebo finished 4th in 01:38:20. In the 10km division, Likeleli Majara won the women’s race in 00:41:35, and Puseletso Mofokeng took 4th for the men in 00:32:18.
Success continued at the Right 2 Run/Walk 21km, where Albert Kangor claimed 1st place in 01:13:38, with Itumeleng Tsholo finishing 10th in 01:31:12. At the Ngqeleni AC Human Rights Day Race, Loveness Madziva took the top spot in the women's 42.2km marathon, clocking 02:56:55. Additionally, Eliud Biwott represented the club at the Alex 10k, finishing 4th in 00:34:17.
At the Johannesburg City Marathon, the Nedbank women’s contingent performed well over the 42.2km distance, with Helene Van Rooyen taking 3rd place in 03:20:21 and Jeannie Henderson finishing closely behind in 4th at 03:20:28. In the 10km event, Maphuti Majetja earned a 3rd place podium spot for the men in 00:34:05, while Jacqueline Lotter secured 2nd place in the women’s race with a time of 00:46:19.
The Goldfields South Deep Half Marathon saw Griffiths Manyedi win the men’s 10km in 00:42:52, followed by Lesiba Mooka in 5th place (00:50:31). In the women’s 21km, Tebogo Nokuosinyana finished 2nd in 01:45:17, with Emali Chauke taking 3rd in 01:47:34.
In the Trojan Om Die Dam 50km, Aaron Moate secured 2nd place in 02:54:03, while Lucky Mohale finished 4th in 02:58:16. Adele Broodryk took 2nd place in the women’s 50km race with a time of 03:43:04
“Was great to run the ODD in not such severe heat, had a nice overcast and cool temperatures. Looking forward to running the original om die dam next year, as completing an out and back run is always slightly more challenging. Had a controlled pace throughout to not fatigue the body as much as this was a training run” - Adele Broodryk.
In the 21km event, Liesel-Mari Fritz finished 6th in 01:42:42. On the track, Nokuthula Dladla Ntshangase excelled at the KZN Athletics Provincial Championships, earning a silver medal in the 5000m with a new personal best of 17:20.71.
The Nedbank Running Club WPA Development Team, coached by Ashley Smith, has concluded a highly successful track season. The group, currently consisting of nine athletes, secured 12 medals at the Western Province Championships, including six golds. At the Western Cape Schools Championships, the team earned an additional four silver medals and one bronze.
Key individual highlights include 16-year-old Joshua’s 8:30 in the 3000m and 14-year-old Luke’s 2:01 in the 800m. Reagan (17) showed significant progression in the 1500m, finishing 2nd at the Western Cape Championships in 3:59. Looking forward, five athletes—Luke Rudolph, Siyambonga Centane, Reagan Freeman, Joshua Schouw, and Jordan Kiewiets—will compete at the ASA Club Championships in Germiston. Furthermore, Rudolph, Freeman, Schouw, and Kiewiets will represent the club at the ASA Schools Championships in Rustenburg from April 8–11.
