The 2026 road running season got off to an excellent start for the Nedbank Running Club at the Biogen 21km, a popular early-season fixture hosted by Bedfordview Athletics and sponsored by Biogen. Known for its scenic yet demanding route through Bedfordview, the hilly half marathon provided a true test of fitness and form, and Nedbank’s athletes rose to the challenge with several outstanding performances across the distances.
In the men’s 21km race, Nedbank Running Club delivered a dominant showing, led by George Kusche who opened his season in superb form to take victory in 1:05:32. His performance was followed by a strong green wave, with Namakoe Nkhasi finishing second in 1:06:45 and Jackson Ole Koisenge close behind in third place in 1:06:49. Given Makgoba continued the club’s impressive run of results with a fourth-place finish in 1:06:59, while Thabang Mosiako rounded out the top five in 1:07:37. Lucky Mohale added to the club’s top-10 positions with an eighth-place finish in 1:10:07, underlining Nedbank’s strength across the field on a challenging course.

The Nedbank women also produced encouraging performances at the start of the season, with Adele Broodryk narrowly missing the podium to finish fourth in 1:26:24 after a solid and controlled run over the tough middle section of the route. Jeannie Henderson continued the club’s strong presence, crossing the line in eighth place in 1:29:33.
Nedbank Running Club’s success extended to the shorter distances, with William Ntsheni claiming victory in the men’s 5km in a time of 17:12, demonstrating sharp speed and early-season readiness.
Overall, the Biogen 21km proved to be an ideal opener to the 2026 race calendar, with Nedbank Running Club athletes delivering results that reflect strong preparation, depth and competitive intent. The #greendreamteam made everyone proud this past weekend!
