#Comrades2022 entry cap to be increased
April 21, 2022
With 14,809 entries already received for this year’s Comrades Marathon, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has decided to increase the 15000-entry cap for the 2022 Comrades Marathon.

Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) Race Director, Rowyn James said, “During the week-long first entry window period, the CMA received 11,307 entries. We are delighted to have received more than 3,500 entries on the first day of the second entry window period thereby necessitating the entry cap increase”.

James added, “Due to the considerable enquiries and demand from our athletes, both locally and internationally, to secure an entry for this year’s Down Run, the CMA has decided to increase the entry cap from 15,000 to 20,000.”

James concludes, “We understand that our runners are looking forward to running the world’s greatest footrace again after the cancellation of both the 2020 Comrades and the 2021 Centenary edition and want to ensure that they have every opportunity to do so. We look forward to having as many runners as possible being part of this year’s Comrades Down Run and have some grand plans in place to make it a truly memorable event.”
