Passionate Runner Reaping the Rewards of BODYTEC Sessions
August 22, 2016
“BODYTEC makes me a stronger runner and keeps me on the road to do what I love,” enthuses Capetonian BODYTEC client and runner Tanya Posthumus-Fox.
With several running accolades to her name – the most recent being winner of the Weskus Langebaan Country Estate Half Marathon, winner of the Run the Vines Spice Route 10km Trail and winner of PPC Cement Riebeeck Berg Half Marathon this August – Posthumus-Fox (35) is a firm supporter of BODYTEC’s Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) training.

Her BODYTEC journey began in 2013. “Working full-time, running according to my training programme, and getting up early in order to fit it all in, there was not a lot of time to continue my one-hour explosive personal training sessions two or three times a week. I joined BODYTEC towards the end of 2013 so that I was able to continue my strength and core training in only 20 minutes once a week. I could even fit this into my lunch break, which was very convenient. I started at BODYTEC Sea Point, and transferred to BODYTEC Century City in 2014,” shares Posthumus-Fox.

“BODYTEC improves muscle build, muscle definition and assists with injury prevention. It has also played a huge role in the activation of my weaker muscles and imbalances highlighted by my regular physiotherapist visits,” she adds.

“My passion for sport and running only started later in life. My husband and I did our first ever road race, the Women’s Day 10km Challenge, in August 2008 which we finished in 59 minutes. Following that, I trained harder, and due to time constraints, started training alone in the mornings instead. I joined Century City Athletics Club at the beginning of 2013.They are an awesome team who gave me further encouragement and showed their belief in me by presenting me with the Sportswoman Award that year. I never actually thought that I was good enough to justify having a coach, but my husband, who is my biggest fan, thought otherwise. He did his research and arranged for me to meet with a potential coach in October 2013 who has been coaching me ever since,” shares Posthumus-Fox.

“I love people, travel, trying and tasting new things, especially if there is sport and/or wine involved. I love to race near the beauty of the sea, mountains or vineyards which is why Hermanus and Langebaan races will always be extra special for me. My best 10km road race is the Century City Express, and my 21km personal best times were at the Gun Run and Two Oceans,” says Posthumus-Fox.
By combining personal training with Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS), BODYTEC enables clients to train quickly and effectively all whilst gently defining muscles and increasing physical strength and endurance. During each 20 minute, personal trainer-supervised session, muscles are stimulated by electrodes connected to a training jacket. As physical strength and endurance increases with each session the muscles become gently defined resulting in a toned, firm body and lasting sense of well-being.
