Fun Run – 2025

On the 12th of September ’25 the club and Kollegepark Primary school in partnership, held this yearly fun run and it was a success which benefitted both the club and the school. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. We as club are looking forward to doing this again in future.

Lite2Nite Relay – 27 September ‘25

The club entered three teams for this event, and everyone present on the day can testify that it was, as planned, a huge success for the club. We have succeeded in bringing athletes, parents, coaches, and management together in a day fill with fun, laughter, aches, and pains and at the end true satisfaction.

For those of you who remember last year, our Nedbank Green Dream Machine ended second to Meyerton RC who beat us at that occasion with four laps. This year the team reversed the situation and we were able to beat them comprehensively with 10 laps (10 kilometer). In the process we have bettered the lap record of last year with 19 laps. The previous record stand at 171 completed laps and we bettered that to 190 laps in the allowed 12 hours. We are so proud of the team who did everything possible and who were willing to stick to our plan. At the end of the day there were a lot of pains, but everyone just kept on going.

To put in perspective, lap number 184 ran by Bongani Dhlomo was the fastest of the day. The youngest athlete in the team, Megan Waller, only planned to do 10 laps for the team, but she ended up with 18 laps and extremely competitive as well.

Our “social” team, the Nedbank Green Blaze, also did us proud and they ended in the 5th place overall with 138 completed laps. They also kept on running for the whole 12 hours and we can only congratulate them with their effort.

The highlight of the day however was the effort of our Junior team, Nedbank Green Speed Squad, who gave us and everyone participating in the event, great joy to watch. As per agreement they only did 80 laps, but it was 80 laps of big entertainment. The organizers afterwards said they enjoyed this team the most. All their 80 laps were under 4 minutes per lap and when they stopped, they were 4 laps in front of the winning team. Their time of 4:37 over the 80 laps tells the whole story. I heard a rumor that some of the other clubs are going to challenge our Junior team next year, but I know that we are going to be able to face any challenge.

Here are some statistics of all three our teams and we are tremendously proud of each and everyone of the 24 athletes.

  1. Nedbank Green Speed Squad

  • Eduan Rademan – 10 completed laps in 31:09 seconds. His fastest lap was 2:59 with an average of 3:07 over the 10 laps

  • Marinus Rademan – 9 completed laps in 29:37. His fastest lap was 3:10 with an average of 3:16 over the 9 laps

  • Selna van As – 11 completed laps in 38:50. Her fastest lap was 3:22 with an average of 3:31 over the 11 laps

  • Franna van der Westhuizen – 10 laps completed in 33:58. His fastest lap was 3:12 with an average of 3:23 over the 10 laps

  • Miane de Clercq – 10 laps completed in 35:32. Her fastest lap was 3:26 with an average of 3:33 over the 10 laps

  • Stiaan Austin – 10 completed laps in 34:33. His fastest lap was 3:24 with an average of 3:27 over the 10 laps

  • Emma de Clercq – 10 completed laps in 36:25. Her fastest lap was 3:32 with an average of 3:39 over the 10 laps

  • Kayleigh Jansen van Vuren – 10 completed laps in 36:45. Her fastest lap was 3:34 with an average of 3:41 over the 10 laps

Some interesting data:

  • They completed between them the 5km in 16:30
  • They completed between them the 10km in 33:24
  • They completed between them the 15km in 51:05
  • They completed between them the 21km (half marathon) in 1:11:37
  • They completed between them the 32km in 1:50:05
  • They completed between them the 42km (marathon) in 2:24:12
  • They completed between them the 50km (ultra-marathon) in 2:52:17
  • They completed between them the 56km (Two Oceans) in 3:13:35
  • They completed between them the 80km in 4:37

I am sure that everyone who reads this will just say “WOW”

This is serious business!!

After 80 laps with their flags and lap of honor

Medal ceremony

  1. Nedbank Green Blaze

  • Renaldo Jansen (Team captain) – 17 completed laps in 1:27:02. His fastest lap was 4:24 with an average of 5:08 over the 17 laps

  • Beu-Anne Bester (Junior athlete) – 17 completed laps in 1:22:36. Her fastest lap was 4:23 with an average of 4:53 over the 17 laps. Always willing and ready to contribute

  • Elsa Jansen – 17 completed laps in 1:38:08. Her fastest lap was 5:14 with an average of 5:48 over the 17 laps. Thank you and we enjoyed you as the replacement for brother Harry

  • Tumelo Motaung – 18 completed laps in 1:30:51. His fastest lap was 4:32 with an average of 5:02 over the 18 laps. As usual he was full of entertainment and a person who lifts the spirit with his attitude

  • Paulus Mofokeng – 20 completed laps in 1:51:01. His fastest lap was 4:58 with an average of 5:34 over the 20 laps. We don't have any photo of Paulus because at one stage he was just completing lap after lap and we had to stop him to prevent burn out

  • Seun Mthimthulu – (surprise everyone with his pace) 16 completed laps in 1:05:43. His fastest lap was 3:51 with an average of 4:06

  • Beaulah Valentin – 16 completed laps in 1:26:50. Her fastest lap was 4:57 with an average of 5:26 over the 16 laps

After 138 laps with flags and lap of honor

Medal ceremony

  1. Nedbank Green Dream Machine

  • Colin Waller – 27 completed laps in 1:24:01. His fastest lap was 2:55 with an average of 3:07 over the 27 laps. Colin contributed magnificently towards the team and all his 27 laps were under 4 minutes. It was just in his last 4 laps that he went slower because of some stiffness in his calves. We can only appreciate his effort during the day and his average was the best of the team

  • Megan Waller – 18 completed laps in 1:03:57. Her fastest lap was 3:11 with an average of 3:33 over the 18 laps. If you take in consideration that she is still only 13 years old, you can only admire her attitude and talent

  • Musawenkosi Mathebula – 25 completed laps in 1:37:13. His fastest lap was 3:22 with an average of 3:56 over the 25 laps. Ntumelo was a big contributor towards the success of the team

  • Sampie Mokgatla (Team captain) – 26 completed laps in 1:46:13. His fastest time was his last lap of 3:38 with an average of 4:05 over the 26 laps. Thank you Sampie you did a great job in the absence of Harry

  • Rearabetswe Mokoena – 24 completed laps in 1:30:50. His fastest lap was 3:11 with an average of 3:48. Well done Rearabetswe you made us proud with your effort

  • Tsietsi Mokoena – 22 completed laps in 1:35:19. His fastest lap was 3:59 with an average of 4:21 over the 22 laps. Thank you Tsietsi for staying so long. Tsietsi did the Heritage Day race the Sunday after the relay

  • Thabiso Moeketsi – 25 laps completed in 1:44:25. His fastest lap was 3:49 with an average of 4:11 over the 25 laps. Thank you Thabiso you really are an acquisition to our club, and we know we are going to see a lot more from you in future

  • Bongani Dhlomo – 23 laps completed in 1:16:17. His fastest lap, which was by the way the fastest lap of the whole field during the day, 2:48 with an average of 3:19. The competitors re-named him to “Blitsvinnig”. Thank you Bongani for your willingness to speed like that in your last lap, just as you did in 2024 to set the fastest lap of the day

After 190 laps with flags and lap of honor

Medal ceremony "And the winners are!!!"

PROUDLY NEDBANK GREEN DREAM MACHINE

A word of thank you to Pierre and Gerda who helped with the food and drinks during the day and who supported the teams. My fingers are still in shock with having to keep time for both teams. In my dreams I still say left, Green Dream Machine and right Green Blaze. We hope to enter more teams in 2026 as it is great fun and a special way to do some team bonding and building within our club

Myself on the left with the timing devices. Pierre in the middle and Beaulah for company
