The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on 30 November.

After the 2024 Comrades marathon in June 2024 the CMA board and workers came under fire from registered CMA members that the current board was not elected constitutional and had a lot of flaws and allegations of mis management. The 6 members who were then nominated by the members and was called the working group to get things sorted was namely Mark Leathers ,Barry Holland ,Cheryll Win ,Nick Bester ,Norrie Wiliamson and Brenda Marolen.

The Comrades Marathon Members working group of 6 that worked behind the scenes the last 3 months, and they promise that there will be a watershed in the renaissance of the event that has been mired in controversies resulting from a string of illogical and inexplicable decisions in recent years and is still reeling from well-founded allegations of corruption, maladministration and ineptitude amongst certain staff and Board members.

Now we need your vote to help us steering the ship in a positive and a set direction on 30 November 2024. See the nominees short cv`s below of the people we know will be able to do the job with their heart and soul and to the best of all Comrades runners whether you are a retired runner or an aspirant newcomer to the race. We would encourage all voting CMA members to read thoroughly through the candidates Cv`s below before making your choices.

The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Seven of the nine elected Board positions are up for election. Both Board incumbents who were standing for re-election have been withdrawn from the ballot: Sweetname Nkibande because he was not eligible as he is not a member in good standing and Celi Makhoba for reasons unknown. Therefore, it will be a CMA Board with a very different composition for the 2025 event.

There are 14 names remaining on the ballot from the original list of 21 that was announced. Each voting CMA member gets seven votes and the seven nominees with the highest number of votes will serve on the CMA Board (the five highest will be elected for a two-year term and the remaining two for a one-year term). The CMA Board votes for the Chair and Vice Chair positions.

The seven Board members will join Nontuthuko Mashimane (an iridiologist, 8 times Comrades finisher and Hollywood Athletics Club KZN committee member) and Isaac Ngwenya (a retired engineer with 21 Comrades finishes). Ngwenya has been at the centre of several controversies and allegations. Whether he remains on the Board will depend on the findings of the independent investigations into allegations of misconduct that the interim Board is due to report back on.

The election of seven Board members is the penultimate item on what is a long agenda so voting CMA Members are warned to be ready for a long day.

The Medi-Aktiv way to enhance a much faster recovery method to your demanding training efforts.

Medi-Aktiv inflatable compression boots.

Compression therapy is being increasingly utilized to help increase blood circulation in the body and aid in the prevention of coagulation of fluids in tissue space, thus assisting in promoting muscle health.

Compression therapy has been found to be very helpful in speeding up recovery, which in turn provides a competitive edge to all athletes that are training at all levels. It helps to improve blood circulation, flexibility and reduce the tissue repair time.

In addition to athletes, compression therapy would be of great help to individuals whose mobility and activity have been limited either because of chronic issues or injuries.

* Assists in the reduction in inflammation and swelling
* Helps speed up recovery by reducing tissue repair time
* Helps to remove toxins such as lactic acid.
* Aids in eliminating leg cramping and leg pain
* Helps to avoid development of cellulite.
* Improves blood circulation.
* Prevents and eliminates first-stage varicose veins.
* Reduces inflammation and fluid collection.
* Relieves conditions such as heaviness in the legs.

Testimonial by Nick Bester

Since 1983 when my running and sporting career took off as a professional athlete I experimented and learned from trial and error how my body react on different training methods ,what to eat when -Protein ,fats or Carbohydrates ,how to sleep ,what supplements is really making  a difference ,your mental attitude and mood  ,how important rest is ,what to avoid or what to do in training and especially how to recover and not get injured.

I obviously choose the things that I could feel is working well.

Images below after using the Medi-Aktiv compression and recovery boots -can see the blood is pumping in the veins and oxygen reaching the muscles

I knew my body like nothing else in this World and especially I could predict how I am going to feel in training from the moment I open my eyes in the morning. There are several important things to do to supplement your training and recovery with but the most important aspect of life and recovery =OXYGEN.

You can survive without food for 20 to 30 days ,survive without water or fluids for 6 to 10 days BUT can only survive without Oxygen for 4 to 10 minutes.  By using the Media Aktiv compression boots for recovery your body and heart is increasing and forcing the blood flow through your body and legs ,more Oxygen and blood is getting faster to the muscles ,organs ,skin and transport the toxins and lactic acid to the lymph nodes, the spleen, and the thymus, that remove it from the body.

I am still training a lot but if I can ever start my professional sporting career all over again, I won’t do it without Medi-Aktiv compression and recovery boots!

Get your Medi-Aktiv recovery boots TODAY at a special discounted rate to all Nedbank Running Club athletes -R11 500-00 with about a 12-to-15-day delivery time.
