MAY 2022

It has been a busy month for everyone participating in all the running events that has opened up.  Now that you all can take part in races, please wrap up warm as we are entering the winter with a bang it seems with very cold weather so far.

We hosted a lot of Athletes at the Wally Hayward Marathon and oh boy was it cold that morning.  Everyone enjoyed the coffee, drinks and eats after their run and it was truly a challenge for those that ran the Marathon. Thanks to Tumelo and Lifitso for offering messaging as well, a first for us and it was a true hit for our runners.

We are proud of  Raoul Mabirimisa 1st place in marathon and Danie Cornelissen 1st Junior in the 21km

TRACK & FIELD

We are extremely proud of ALL our Track & Field Athletes that has been performing well.

Our 3 Members that is truly shining bright for the quarter has truly shown their dedication and passion this year!

Danie Cornelissen made the team for the SA 21km Road Championships in Port Elizabeth on 4 June 2022.  Danie is still a junior runner and his passion truly shines out in his performance.  Good luck Danie and we know you are also busy with your Matric year but this shows your dedication and commitment to Athletics in your hard work.  You are truly our STARS of the Month

Our other two STARS of the Month and Marion Fourie and Rivaldo Roberts that were chosen for the CCA African Championships in Mauritius from 8 to 12 June 2022.  We are super proud of everyone.

AMANDASIG SATILITE CLUB

Our Amandasig Club is growing well and it is so wonderful to see that Members can run closer to their homes to keep fit as well as be part of the Nedbank Running Club Family.

Please keep us updated on Social Media with your performance and send us photos on Instagram & Face Book.  Remember to tag us as well as our Sponsors.

GROENKLOOF TIME TRIALS

Groenkloof time trials is always a highlight of the week and although we would like to make this earlier due to it getting darker earlier in the winter months, we find that with everyone working it is impossible.  So remember to join us every Thursday at 17H30 to run with us.  We have some young up and coming athletes that joins us at our Time Trials and they truly give the experienced runners a run for their money at our Time Trials weekly.

MONTHLY BRAAI

This is always a hit every 1st Thursday of the month and thank you to all those Club members that always attend and lend a helping hand with the braai!  It is great to share running stories and spending time together with a free drink and food if you ran our Time Trials.  A small treat we are still able to give back to our Club members.

Post of the Month by Solice Makgetlang, truly inspirational.  Thank you Solice!

We are truly #MoreThanAClub

We want to thank all our Members that has supported us during COVID and it was a challenging time for all Clubs in SA, we are truly blessed that we have such great Sponsors and awesome support from Nedbank Running Club National.  Thank you Nick Bester for your vision and always being there to support us all.

Please do spread the word that we are a social club and not just an Elite Club as many athletes think we only cater for the Top Athletes.  Yes Nedbank Running Club does a great job in promoting our Elite Athletes but we need to ensure we promote our club as well to keep growing the numbers.

Keep up your training and hope that those that entered Comrades Marathon is working hard on your training schedule.  Good luck everyone with your training and please be safe on the roads, run in groups, do not run with cell phones in hand and be vigilant.  Your safety is important!

Been there, run that
