Nedbank running club was represented in both events with overall victories coming from Francois Maquassa victorious in the 11km and teammate Patrick van der Ross crossing the line first in the 20km.
On Sunday in Alberton, the Alberton athletics club hosted Central Gauteng’s first official road race since lockdown was imposed in March, with the Alberton 10km. Comrades winner Gerda Steyn took an easy victory, covering the distance in 34:23 which also was a new course record.
“It was such a fun morning out on the streets of Alberton,” said Steyn. “I’m satisfied with my time and the new course record as it has taken a bit longer than usual to recover after running London Marathon but todays race
definitely ignited the spark to the
flame again and I am looking forward to working on the next goal.
Teammate Chrizell Roberts finished 6th in 38:42, also recovering from the recent Cape Town Marathon which was staged as an elite only event in 3 Cities.
The Nedbank running club congratulate everyone who took part over the past weekend and look forward to many more green podiums! |
