It was another unforgettable weekend for the Nedbank Running Club

Nedbank Running Club athletes put in standout performances across the country. From Cape Town to Durban, Johannesburg to Mossel Bay, our runners brought home wins, podium finishes, and personal triumphs — proudly flying the green and gold.

Cape Town Festival of Running – 21km

The iconic Cape Town Festival of Running delivered a clean sweep for Nedbank in the half marathon event.

In the men’s race, Lloyd Bosman led from the front to claim victory in a commanding time of 01:07:01, while teammate Yohannes Hirbo secured 4th place in 01:11:47, rounding off a strong showing from our Western Cape athletes.

The women’s race was just as impressive, with Anel Terblanche storming to a 1st place finish in 01:19:21, showing brilliant form in front of a home crowd.

Gerald Fox Memorial Race with Vitality – 21.1km & 10km

In Johannesburg, the Nedbank green was well represented at the Gerald Fox Memorial Race, with runners shining in both the 21.1km and 10km distances.

In the men’s half marathon, Kabelo Melamu put on a gutsy performance to take 2nd place in 01:08:56, followed by Riaan Van Zyl in 9th, clocking 01:21:15.

Our women claimed a double podium finish, with Jeannie Henderson crossing the line in 2nd place (01:28:50) and Galaletsang Mekgoe taking 3rd (01:29:57).

In the 10km event, Hlongwane Bongani earned a strong 3rd place with 00:32:49, while Griffiths Manyedi followed in 8th with 00:34:55.
On the women’s side, Estrelita Kotze finished 6th overall, running a solid 00:40:57.

ABSA Run Your City Durban 10km

Durban delivered a fast and furious 10km showdown, and Nedbank’s elite made their presence felt in a deep field of national and international competitors.

In the men’s race, Aklilu Asfaw clocked 00:28:11 to finish 9th overall, keeping pace in a high-caliber race.
In the junior men’s division, rising star Regardt Hattingh finished 3rd in a fantastic time of 00:30:16, marking him as one to watch.

In the women’s race, Selam Gebre placed 7th overall in 00:31:56, a strong performance in a highly competitive field. Meanwhile, Tebogo Mokgosinyane took top honours in the veteran category, winning her age group in 00:40:05.

PetroSA 10km – Mossel Bay

In the coastal town of Mossel Bay, Bruce Maboza continued his fine form with a 2nd place overall finish, running a sharp 32:00 over the hilly 10km course.

In the women’s race, young talent Kezia Matthysen impressed with a 3rd place overall finish, also claiming 1st in the junior category — a brilliant double achievement for the future star.

Closing Thoughts

The Nedbank Running Club continues to show depth, determination, and heart. Every finish line crossed this weekend was a testament to the hard work, passion, and unity that drives this team forward.
