“The race was tough. From the beginning it was just the two of us,me and the Lesotho Nedbank athlete. We went out fast, went like three minutes a kilometre. I think he left me at the 20 kilometer mark. He went alone and after that I was chasing him down. So the time when he saw me, he was just pushing and pushing. So I was also pushing like two/ three minutes a kilometre to chase him down, trying to win the race. I was prepared for winning the race, to break the record on the 42 but I didn't expect a lot of downhills and uphills like that. But the race was tough. I wouldn't say it was easy. So it was a tough race. So I think next year is going to be something bigger for me because I want to go big.”

“It was cold, but  happy with the weather. Started from gun to the finish I lead the race. Left the other guys around 3km mark. It started to get a bit warmer in the race with the weather so it was easier leading the race halfway. The vibe around Knysna people along the road was amazing. The best part of the race was my training partners of Pacaltsdorp Running Tribe was with me on the podium. Francois 2nd, Bruce 3rd and Wayne 4th. That was a great feeling seeing them crossing the line”
