On route activations and club tents
May 24, 2024
This year’s race will see the hosting of 48 well-stocked refreshment stations along the route. These refreshment stations will be manned by a minimum of 50 volunteers assisting a wide range of route activations including those being facilitated by the official partners to and sponsors of the race. These will include activations by the CMA’s six official charities.

In addition, athletics clubs affiliated with Athletics South Africa (ASA) are invited to set up support stations to support their members and offer personalised seconding at a maximum of three locations along the course.  These stations may be no bigger than 3m x 6m in size at each point and should not make use of an inflatable arch (unless the prior written consent of the CMA has been obtained).

In an effort to protect the race’s sponsors and partners, CMA Race & Operations Manager, Ann Ashworth, has appealed to any party who is neither affiliated to ASA nor formally partnered with the CMA, to please make contact with the office to seek permission for the erection of any corporate and/or commercial branding of any kind along the route.  In the absence of the CMA’s prior written permission, the erection of any branding along the race route on 9 June 2024 may be considered ambush marketing and any persons responsible will be asked to remove such branding from along the race route.

The 97th Comrades Marathon will be the 49th Up Run on Sunday, 9 June 2024, starting at the Durban City Hall at 05h30 and ending 12 hours later at the HollywoodBets Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg, covering a distance of 85.91km.
