Run with Comrades legends at the Nedbank Skosana Road race

This Saturday 14 January see’s the annual running of the Nedbank Skosana Road race which makes its way back to the Pretoria road running scene and has a distance for the whole family to take part. Not only this, but you also have the opportunity of meeting and running with Comrades legends such as the last two winners, Edward Mothibi and Tete Dijana.

Starting from the Pierre van Ryneveld Church, the event has a 1 mile, 5km fun run, 10km and half marathon on offer making it a family affair and a distance everyone can take part in. “The entries have been coming through nicely and we are looking forward to seeing everyone kick off their 2023 running year,” said Jacqueline Rencontre, race director. “We have great prizes on offer from our awesome sponsors such as Future Life, THIRSTI water, Nike, Biogen and Bavaria as well as cash prizes for top 3 positions.”

Dave Adams who has coached the last two Comrades Marathon winners and whose athletes all achieved gold medals in last year’s Comrades will be at the event to. “We are busy preparing for the Nedbank Runified Breaking Barriers 50km and the Nedbank Skosana race fits perfectly with the preparation and we always support the Nedbank races,” said Adams. 

“Tete and Dan Matshaliwe will run the half marathon and Edward and Galaletsang Mekgoe will take part in the 10km.” Matshaliwe in his debut Comrades last year finished 3rd with Mekgoe on her debut finishing 5th. It was a dream start to their careers and their training partners Mothibi and Dijana have both won the last 2 editions. 

Entries for the Nedbank Skosana race can be done online at www.peaktiming.co.za/entries and race entry collections as well as late entries can be done between 15h00 to 19h00 on Thursday 12 January at CBC old boys club and Friday 13 January at the race venue.
