NEDBANK RUNNING CLUB PROVES TO BE PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN IN THE TWO OCEANS MARATHON
The Green Dream Team of the Nedbank Running Club produced the first South African athletes across the finish line in both the woman's and men's categories at Saturdays Two Oceans marathon in Cape Town.
Adinda Kruger from the Nedbank Running Club in Pretoria ran a brilliant race by finishing in third place overall in the woman's race, just behind the Russian Nurgalieva twin sisters. She timed her race with perfection as she moved from 5th position to third in the final 8km. of the race as she finished in 3h49min.23sec.She mentioned afterwards that she used the Two Oceans as a solid training run in preparation to the up and coming Comrades marathon at the end of May this year.
Another Nedbank athlete, Tshififhwa Mundalamo finished 4th overall and second South African female across the line. Kerry Koen from the Nedbank Running CLUB IN Durban was 9th overall.
Although the men's race-56km.- was dominated by the flying Lesotho athletes, Nedbank Running Clubs Sandile Ngunuza from Port Elizabeth finished in 10th position (3h15min.42sec.) claiming the last gold medal on offer as well as the first South African home in the Two Oceans marathon.
Annatjie Botes from the Nedbank Running Club in George was trhe first master woman home and Cristopher Mabengeza from Nedbank Running Club Port Elizabeth.was third in the mens veteran`s race.
We are proud that we could support the South African Nedbank athletes in their built up and training demands to achieve these outstanding results.
The Nedbank Running Club in Port Elizabeth won the senior men as well as the veteran men's team prizes and the Nedbank Running Club in Pretoria won the veteran woman's team prize.
The 21km. event was dominated by Nedbank Athletes. Rene Kalmer and `Irvette ran superbly to take first and second places for the Nedbank team with both of them breaking the coarse record by clocking 72 min.39sec.and 72min.55sec.respectively for the 21km.
They were followed by Nedbank Team mates Rutenda Nyahora 7th, Marelize Retief 8th. and Poppy Mlambo 9th.
The Nedbank Green Dream team member, Tsamano Setone finished on the podium with his third place in 1h04min.13sec. followed by Xolisa Tyali 4th.,Jeffrey Gweby 7th.,Lungisa Mdedelwa 8th and Jonatahan Chinyoka in 10th.
The Nedbank Central Gauteng mens team won the team competition and the Nedbank CGA womans team was also first in the team competition
