Hi Cross Country friends 21/08/2009

Only 3 weeks to go now before the South African Cross Country championships. Gauteng North Cross Country Championships

We have had a great provincial championship with 1720 finishers; the largest ever. We have learnt some lessons which we hope to improve on at the national championships. Overall, I am really proud of the support and hard work of the team that made the event the success it turned out to be.

I would also like to thank our City Council for assisting us with logistics. We are really fortunate to have their support.

Also, the Gauteng Department of Education for supporting our event and providing athletes with transport and food.
Cross Country is built on trust. We have proven that our organizations have the same goals and where we stand together, we make a formidable team. I have no doubt that the AGN team this year would be the strongest yet. I hope our relationship is for the long run.

AGN Champs Results
National Cross Country Championships (12 September 2009)
The South African Cross Country championships will take place on 12 September 2009 at LC de Villiers sports grounds. The event is hosted by Athletics Gauteng North and Athletics South Africa.

This year, more than 2500 athletes from 17 provinces will take part in the championships. We will also have a 5 Km event to open the championships with. The 5 Km event is open to all and will start at 08:00 am.

Athletics Gauteng North finds it self at a defining moment, and we would like to present the best event possible.
The event will most probably have television coverage and we have also asked the executive mayor of the City of Tshwane metro council to do the officially opening for us.

For the first time, there would also be an expo and you will be able to rub shoulders with many of our modern day hero's (and some of the past).

I would like to appeal to the Gauteng North clubs to come and support the event as spectators. I would also like to ask athletes (or parents) to wear the pin badges which they received at the AGN championships in support for our team.

If you have any nice ideas to make the event special, I would like to hear them. Maybe we will be able to implement.
