2020 MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon Postponed
March 19, 2020
In light of the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the subsequent postponement or cancellation of sporting events and mass gatherings in the country, the MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon organising committee, in co-operation with the relevant authorities, have made a decision to postpone the race. The safety of our participants, sponsors, suppliers, supporters and members of the public is of utmost importance to us.
We have aligned ourselves with Athletics South Africa (ASA) as well as National Government and the National State of Disaster as announced by State President Cyril Ramaphosa, where a decision was made to postpone, with immediate effect, all athletics events in the country, at all levels, for 30 days due to COVID-19.

I am sure you have more questions than answers, but unfortunately we don’t the answers either. Not yet. What we can tell you is that we have tentatively negotiated an alternative date. The details are not available yet, but will be communicated in due course. Expect more communication within the next few weeks about various other aspects regarding the event.

This is a very difficult time in our history and we had to take a responsible approach to ensure the safety of all involved. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope that you and your loved ones remain safe.
Thanks for your compassion, support and understanding.
