Nedbank running club’s Tanith Maxwell continues fine form
October 16, 2019
Tanith Maxwell continues to be on the comeback trail after an injury derailed 2019 with yet another victory, this time in the windy Elsie’s River 10km.

The multiple South African representative athlete had achillies issues earlier this year which saw her not able to run Comrades but has since bounced back, also representing South Africa in the World 50km championships. “It’s great to see my track sessions are paying off and I was able to hold on for the win,” said Maxwell. Her time was 37:10 and besides taking the win, was also the first veteran across the line.

Down in Durban, there was fast and furious action in the FNB Durban 10km. Our Nedbank running club athletes had a good showing in the ladies’ race, with 5 athletes in the top 10. Quickest of them was Beatrice Mutai from Nedbank RC Kenya who finished on the podium in 3rd in a world class 31:01. Behind her, Gerda Steyn continued to show great form heading into the upcoming New York Marathon, finishing 10th in 33:22. Conditions in the race were far from ideal with very strong winds for most of the first half of the race.

The Nedbank running club now focusses on the upcoming Soweto Marathon where a strong performance is expected by our green dream team
