Obituary – Lucky Mtshali & Goitsimodimo Lethloo
January 15, 2019
The Nedbank Running Club would like to send condolences to the families of Lucky Mthsali and Goitsimodimo Lethloo who both tragically passed away in separate incidents.

Mtshali, who was also known by his nickname ‘Ziko’ was knocked over by a car on his way home after training on Tuesday 8 January 2019. A member of the Nedbank Running Club Soweto, Mtshali was a star athlete on our development team and was on the rise with his performances. From the track all the way to the Marathon, Mtshali always gave 110% and was a very committed athlete and well loved by his fellow teammates. After winning the SA 4km XC champs in 2016 in the 30-34 age group, Mtshali also placed 3rd that year in the Wally Hayward Marathon running a time of 2:31:41. His personal best of 2:23 came from the Petro SA Mosselbay Marathon.

The funeral of the late Goitsimodimo Lethloo was held last week. Lethloo was a Nedbank Running Club development athlete who trained under the guidance of Pio Mpolokeng. Lethloo lived in our development house in Klerksdorp and was also assisted with his school fee’s through the club. Specializing in 800m & 1500m on the rack, Lethloo represented the Dr Kenneth Kaunda district 5 times.

We urge all Nedbank Running Club athletes to please be extra vigilant on the roads and always wear bright coloured training gear and reflective items.
