There is less than one week left for Comrades Marathon runners, supporters and the public at large to get their nominations in for the upcoming Old Mutual Spirit of Comrades Awards.
The final date for submissions is next Tuesday, 31 July 2018. Among the nominations received thus far are some profound stories which exemplify the spirit of the Comrades Marathon.
CMA Chairperson, Cheryl Winn says, “The Old Mutual Spirit of Comrades Awards personifies the very noble attributes of perseverance, selflessness and Ubuntu. We would like to encourage all Comrades runners and supporters to submit nominations for whom they feel personify altruism, dedication and the ideals associated with The Ultimate Human Race.”
Winn adds, “Many Comrades runners have managed to achieve their goal of completing the world’s oldest and greatest ultra-marathon despite overwhelming odds. We want to hear those stories and showcase the real heroes of our communities and our race.”
The Old Mutual Spirit of Comrades Award is presented to a maximum of three outstanding individuals annually. Please click through to http://www.comrades.com/home-about/spirit-of-comrades and submit your nomination before 31 July 2018.
Awards will be conferred at the discretion of the CMA Board. Also recognised on the night will be the Top Journalist of the Year, Top Charity Fundraiser of the Year and the 2018 Comrades Marathon Winners who will receive their coveted 2018 Comrades Marathon Winners Jackets.
