Nedbank Running Club Dominates the 24th ANNUAL FOSKOR F21 ROAD RACE
July 31, 2017
The Quality men’s and woman’s field produced exciting racing in warm ideal running conditions on the fast-circular route.

The men were chasing the current course record of 1:01:55 set by Ezel Thlobo in 1997 for an additional incentive of R21 100-00. The lead pack were 30 seconds inside the record at 15km but from 17km during the long steady climb to the finish, Elroy Gelant, who were leading up until 17km and David Manja (Nedbank Running Club CNW) gradually started losing time towards the record attempt. David Manja, the winner in 2016 in a time of 1:05:08, finished strongly crossing the finish line 1:02:56 running a course personal best by 2 minutes 12 seconds. Elroy Gelant, preparing for his debut marathon at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on 17 September 2017 looked impressive crossing the line second in 1:03:10 with Joel Mmone (Nedbank Running Club CNW) third in 1:03:53.

In the woman’s race, Rudo Mhonderwa (Nedbank Running Club Zimbabwe) ran a brilliant race leading from start to finish crossing the line in 1:16:30, 2 minutes 38 clear from Mamorallo Tjoka (Nedbank Running Club Lesotho) with Patience Murowe (Nedbank Running Club Zimbabwe) third – 01:20:04. Elana Meyer still holding the course record of 1:12:19 set in 1999
