Three victories for Nedbank Running Club

Three athletes of the Nedbank Running Club won first place over the past weekend.

The club’s female athletes achieved a clean sweep at the Fry’s Hohenort 15 km race in Constantia. Fortunato Chizivo won in 56:58 with Ursula Frans second veteran in 1:05:03 and Busisiwe Matiwane third veteran in 1:06:42. Mthandazo Qhina, also from the Nedbank Running Club, won the men’s race in 48:40.

Another highlight for the club was Thabang Mosiako’s victory at the Dischem 21 km in Bedfordview. His winning time was 1:05:33. Desmond Mokqoba (Boxer) finished second in 1:06:55. The next two athletes to cross the finishing line were both from Nedbank Running Club. Philemon Mathiba was third in 1:08:56 and Joel Mmone fourth in 1:10:46.

At the Alberton 10 km race Jacob Tseko (Rockies) won in 32:43 with Esau Radebe (Nedbank Running Club) crossing the finishing line seven seconds later. Simon Mokonyama (Monaco) was third in 33:04.

Micah Kipyego (Brooks) won the Alberton half-marathon with a winning time of 1:13:29. Siyabonga Dingile (Nedbank Running Club) finished second in 1:14:36 and Elliot Makgoba (Monaco) took third place in 1:15:32.

The N2 City Bluewater Bay 15 km race in Port Elizabeth was won by Zolani Mabhongo (Ikhama) 47:55. Melikhaya Frans (running for the same club) was second in 49:27 and Rodney Prins (Nedbank Running Club) third in 49:52. Siphokazi Nojoko (Motherwell) won the women’s race and she clocked a time of 1:02:10. Davera Magson (Nedbank Running Club) finished second in 1:04:24 and Freedah Ncube (Madibaz) third in 1:04:39.
