Africa Mailola heads off to Morocco to compete in the 2016 Agardir Marathon on Sunday 24 April.
Mailola has run in four Marathons, with his best being 2 hours 17 minutes and 57seconds which he ran in Cape Town in February this year. His 65min personal best in the Half Marathon indicates he is capapble of going good 5 minutes faster over the standard Marathon distance.
“This will be my first international Marathon,” says Africa. “I am hoping to break my personal best.”
Mailola has run 2:23.14 in 2011, 2:22.46 in 2013. In 2014 he won the Benoni Marathon with a time of 2:22.47 before his 2:17 earlier this year at the Peninsula Marathon in Cape Town.
Tyali fifth in Brigthon
On Sunday 17 April, Xolisa Tyali was chasing an Olympic Qualifier in the Brighton Marathon. Tyali finished 5th in a time of 2:17.27.
