Today is the final day for the 2016 Comrades Marathon Substitution Process.
The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has confirmed that 1114 successful Substitution applications have been processed as of this morning.
The 2016 Substitution Process opened on 1 April 2016 and closes today (Thursday, 21 April 2016). CMA Race Director, Rowyn James has thanked the runners for submitting their Substitution applications on time. James says, ‘Today is the final day for those runners who still intend on applying for a Substitute entry. We urge our runners to submit their application before close of business today.’
James adds, ‘Through the Comrades Marathon Substitution Rule, we will definitely have many more runners on the start line on Sunday, 29 May 2016. We look forward to another memorable race day.’
Athletes still intending to submit Substitution application forms are advised to visit the official Comrades Marathon website at www.comrades.com for the downloadable forms and the comprehensive list of rules and regulations which govern the Substitution process. Prospective substitutes are encouraged to do their application online.
The Substitution Rule has been part of the Comrades Marathon entry process since 2012 and allows for a runner who has not entered to substitute an entrant who has withdrawn, or intends to withdraw from the 2016 edition of The Ultimate Human Race.
