With the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon 29 days away, the Two Oceans Marathon NPC continues to remain abreast of the latest developments regarding the Southern Peninsula fires that affect the traditional Ultra Marathon route.
We are in close contact with the City of Cape Town Disaster Management team and other key role players, and will continue to be over the course of the next few weeks.
As is standard procedure for any mass-participation event of this scale, we have alternative route plans available for consideration – if required.
We thank all participants for their patience in this regard.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this fire and salute the brave men and women who are still working around the clock to bring it under control.
We request that runners avoid training in these areas for the time being.
